Enjoy the best of each new day

Goodmorning

Each new day  allows us a choice as to whether our day is one of joy and contentment?  Or do you have a day that  is full of misery and self-pity?  Do you smile at least a few times a day? Do you find something to laugh about’ so that humor becomes a major coping mechanism .

With God’s help, we are given each new day to appreciate and relish.   Let God help you to feel the happiness in each new day;  regardless of your circumstances. Will we be full of hope and have  awesome expectations that will yield positive outcomes? Do  we always find something negative to latch on to?  The way we use our time is a matter of choice. We are all guaranteed that each day consists of 24 hours and that is it. We use our free will to make a conscious choice to live in the moment, enjoying everything or fretting  about what the future may hold.

Since we are human, we make many mistakes during our life time. Do you hold onto these mistakes  and carry them on your shoulder throughout another new day? We need  let go of mistakes, without repeating them again. It is truly a joy to appreciate the beauty of each new day.  A powerful life full of faith and  joy gives you the gift of peace that only God gives us.

Never let yourself be trapped in negative thoughts and be imprisoned by pride, and harmful addictions.  Embrace how special God has made you.

Cherish each new day as if it was your last.   Remember we have a small amount of time in this life.  Take all your mistakes and put them in a bucket and throw them away.  Gather experiences that will make your day worth living and enjoying. The best is yet to come when God calls us home

May your faith always be strong

ImageI can’t imagine how anyone can go through life in this extremely troubled world without  faith.  Yesterday we learned that the recent atrocities in Syria did indeed involve the use of chemical weapons on their people.  I had to turn away from the images on television that showed innocent children dead or dying from the effects of chemical exposure.  I watched a mother hold her child as she died in her arms and once again I had to turn away from this heart rendering situation.  Now the fate of our nation rests in the hand of our leaders.  How can we allow these atrocities to continue without responding to them?

Faith in God helps believers  cope with living in this fallen world.  We will turn to God and pray for our military, our leaders and our Great nation.   Houses of worship will gather their congregation and also pray about this matter.

Our country has enough problems of our own with our financial problems and divided Congress . I hope that the United States will have the support of other nations as they attempt  respond to this horrendous situation.  Those of us who live by faith will be comforted by our trust in God. Let us all pray for our nation, our military and our leaders and ask God to protect us all.

This phrase can stop you in your tracks! ” What if”

ImageAs I look back on my life, I realize that fortunately now that I have become a believer, I rarely ask  the  question  ” What if”?  What if I had not started a business years ago that made us lose our retirement funds?  What if I didn’t have to up and move  and leave our awesome family in Massachusetts? What if I didn’t listen to God asking me to write the book: Suddenly Senior My Walk In Faith?  What if I have received very little feedback regarding this book?  What if I let my mind  continues to ask” What” if for the wrong reasons?

If you are a believer, God has made many valuable promises to you. He has promised never to forsake you.  He has told us that  we can always trust Him.  He has given us specific pieces of  armor to protect us all the days of our lives.   He has given us scripture that will serve as our roadmap for us to utilize.   He is our rock and our redeemer, our shelter in a storm and the  Alpha and Omega.  He provides the joy in each new day.

I also  remember that  I can  ask the following questions today:”   What if I didn’t have a relationship with God and Y’shua/Jesus?  What if I had listened to the voice of the Devil saying “You can’t let Y’shua in your life because you are Jewish?  What if I never read the entire Holy Bible? What if I worried instead of praying and chose fear instead of faith?  What if I had not written my book and  did not listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit?   What if I kept control of my life instead of giving it all to God?

If I did not move out of the box and stayed in my comfort zone;  my life would be mundane and uninteresting.  There is a strong possibility that  I would grow older much faster. As I continue on my walk in faith, I shall always be grateful for that beautiful day in February 2003 when my life was changed forever.  It was that beautiful day that God planted Y’shua/Jesus into my heart and I became a Messianic Jew and a Sister in Christ.

God Bless You  and may God shine down on you each and every day.

Shalom,

Barbara Serating

Do you struggle with self-control?

self-control

It has been over five years since I learned that self-control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. This is a topic that I constantly struggle with and have once again turned to God for His guidance. My Son-In-Law, Brian, has made me aware of the difference between a “want” and a “need” by having me ask myself is this item is “Mission Critical“? A” want” is obviously something that is not a necessary purchase and a “need” is something I absolutely have to purchase: example: an item such as buying toilet tissue.

Self-control is vital in this fast paced troubled world that we are living in. It is essential that prior to making a comment that may hurt another person’s feelings, we have the self-control to swallow our words. Another obvious self-control issue may involve making a decision to choose a healthier food instead of a calorie dense junk food item. Shopping now is a 24 hour activity. It is so simple to sit in your office chair at home or at work and shop for any item that you could possibly buy at any time in the day. You can enjoy a reward, or a discount on the price by using the correct promotion code. In addition, it feels empowering to buy an item that you paid 50% off .

Bloggers that discuss tips to avoid clutter in your life, advise us to get rid of an item in our home once we purchase a new item. It is great advice, except what item can you choose to place in your “Goodwill box?” It becomes even more difficult if your spouse realizes that you are placing an item of his in that box. He decides instantly that He can not allow you to consider this item as expendable. It truly requires self-control to decide not to make that purchase.

I need self-control so that I can avoid the consequences of both overeating and overspending. I have learned that God listens to our prayers and decides how to answer them. He might also have us learn a lesson as he deals with our petitions. God has shown me that He works in His timeframe which is totally different from mine.

The need for constant growth in the life of a believer is essential for our walk in faith. Most of us dread the section on our job performance review: “Need”s improvement”. If I was reading God’s performance review for me, this section would include: ‘needs improvement in self-control”. Since we are all imperfect human beings, we will always have areas that need improvement.

We need to develop behavioral tools to help with self-control. I need to take out my brushes and begin painting in watercolors or pastels. Another options would include reading a book or taking a walk. Another valuable action would be to set up a savings goal and when we achieve that amount, allow us some type of reward for having achieved that goal.  The greatest reward will come when God calls us Home to be with Him in Paradise.
